A never-ending stream of images
L’abyme is an abyss of images, gushing relentlessly. It mirrors our era, saturated with visuals but incapable of making sense of them. Using a technique called slit-scan, images drawn from popular culture stretch out from the center to the extremities, while a small screen reveals their origin. When you approach, your appearance is captured and integrated into this elusive flow, blurring the boundary between the real and the constructed. Your gestures influence the music, creating an immersive experience where real and fake intermingle. By revealing the omnipresence and malleability of images, L’abyme questions our relationship with media and the insidious impact it has on our thinking.

About LP Rondeau
In his works, Louis-Philippe Rondeau develops devices that explore self-representation and performance in a playful and unconventional manner. His research-creation approach reveals a simplicity of design for users, concealing the complexity of computer code in favour of physical interfaces. He is a professor at the School of Digital Arts, Animation and Design at UQAC (NAD-UQAC). His works have been exhibited in over 15 countries.
