Bring Atikamekw legends to life
Les Fabuloscopes are animation machines that bring Atikamekw legends to life. By turning a large orange wheel, participants can transform a narrative of still images into an animated loop. The process involves strobe flashes and is based on retinal persistence, the ability of the eye and brain to superimpose an already seen image onto new images. Inspired by the praxinoscope and the zoetrope, two early inventions in the history of cinema, the installation uses flashes of light and moving images to create an animated loop that brings Atikamekw myths to life.

About La Camaraderie
La Camaraderie was founded in 2011 by multidisciplinary designers Albane Guy and Alexandre Renzo. Through its various mandates - exhibition design, urban installation, communication, layout - La Camaraderie creates participatory spaces where people interact with systems of expression: speech, writing, image, sound and movement. Its experiential devices function thanks to the collaboration of individuals and the pleasure they derive from being part of the collective work.
